Leslie Fox serves as a Technical Assistance provider and Collaboratives Co-Lead for the national Center to Improve Social & Emotional Learning and School Safety.
Fox is the Content Area Director for WestEd’s Early Childhood Intervention, Mental Health and Inclusion programs and projects. She is responsible for project development and oversight of cross-sector early childhood policies and practices intended to improve learning, health and developmental outcomes for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Fox joined WestEd after working at the US Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs where she provided monitoring and technical assistance to state agencies implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). She is a nationally recognized expert in program evaluation & systems alignment, evidence-based practices to improve early childhood outcomes & implementation science.
Fox has over 25 years of experience as an early intervention specialist working in birth to eight special education programs in the US and overseas military bases as well as supporting children with disabilities & families served through childcare, home visiting, and child abuse & neglect programs. She holds a PhD in Early Childhood, Special Education & Literacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
